Ricky is a great guy to deal with too, and he won't backslide on his customer service. One of the toughest, sharpest swords out there, and made of top-notch materials to boot. I have not owned all of these, and am basing this list off of overall reviews. If I had to choose a top.5, for about $500, these would be my choices. Does the small gap in toughness compensate for the overall gap in quality? I don't think so. Is a Ronin Katana Dojo Pro as tough as a Cheness Tenchi(with no issues)? Almost. Better QC, better build quality, better materials, better customer service, you name it. Overall, I vote for Ronin Katana over Cheness 99% of the time. The Cheness Tenchi is much tougher than my Kaze, though, as it is TH and built for abuse.

I have a Ronin Katana 1045, and it has indeed held up to cutting as well, perhaps even a little better, than my Cheness Kaze. I got a Musashi with the 1045 blade for my nephew, and it works fairly well. jugs, rolled newpaper, 3 liter soda, fruit cutting (pineapples), green bamboo off the tree, meat and soft woods. I like to cut things alot and i looking a strong cutting Katana for lots of 1 gal. I did fix the blade with the 'straightening over the knee method' but it's a little less than straight(if you hold it up to a good light it's a few degree off from straight).įor the heavy cutting i thinking about something as strong as i can get it for 500$ top end but as low as i can get it and still have a great cutting sword for someone that could and will make bad cuts sometimes and not break like that video of the konron 9260 katana. I know this bottle was hard because later on i was using it for a plinking target for my bow and it destroy most of my cedar arrows. I was going to start with the Musashi but i thought "let start with something cheaper 1st" and i was right.

Ok, about the 1045 Musashi's sword about how strong are they? I was doing some cutting with my Burmese Dha sword and i tried to cut a 3 liter sweet bay soda bottle that was full of water and I bent my blade.
